Showstars Jr. Ballet
The Show Stars™ Ballet program fosters musicality, body awareness and movement potential in a format that encourages individual artistry. Inspired by the work of Rudolf Von Laban and Irmgard Bartinieff, the class explores the elements of dance; Body, Space, Force, and Time, through creative exercises that are movement focused rather than story focused. The knowledge gained in these classes prepares the student for the attention to detail required in the study of formal ballet training.
Level 3/4 students continue to develop extension of the legs and strength of the feet as well as more advanced barre and center work and port de bras throughout. Single pirouettes and grande allegro are introduced. Depending on individual progression and development, students may be given the opportunity to take pre-pointe and pointe classes. With this Level, students are given the option to add additional classes to strengthen their core, increase flexibility and round out their movement vocabulary.
This class will focus on learning proper jazz technique such as isolation of the body, improving energy and endurance as well as developing complex rhythms and patterns. Students will be exposed to various styles of jazz including Luigi technique, Latin, Brazilian and Contemporary to help develop a well-rounded dancer. Class curriculum is based on ballet technique layered with traditional jazz movement and includes a warm-up, stretches, isolation, floor work, across-the-floor progressions, and combinations. Intermediate jazz students will exploring new techniques, rhythm patterns, and movement vocabularies. This class will explore a lot of floor work and knee pads are highly encouraged to prevent injury.
Lyrical class is designed for intermediate to advanced students with previous training in ballet. Students will explore partnering and weight sharing exercises combined with basic techniques and skills from ballet (primarily), jazz and modern. It emphasizes interpretation of music lyrics while telling a story with movement that can be fluid or abstract. As students progress through each level curriculum will become increasingly more complex and intricate. Students must take this class in conjunction with ballet. Contemporary combines techniques and skills from ballet, jazz and modern techniques with more focus on the combination of technique to tell the story than the abstract use of lyric interpretation.
Must have a strong ballet background. Pointe placement and classes is at the discretion of the director. Students must take a minimum of 90 minutes of ballet technique per week to take Pointe.

Tap Level 2
This class emphasizes the development of tap technique & terminology with an introduction to various styles of tap. Students will explore coordination, single time steps, beginning turns, short combinations, and showmanship along with rhythm and timing within a wide range of musical accompaniment. Class begins at the “tap barre” and progresses to center floor combinations and repetitive exercises, instilling a strong foundation for the beginner tapper.
Tap Level 3
This class continues the development of tap technique & terminology. Students will further develop skills including musicality and sound clarity with an added focus on increasing speed, and developing style. Intermediate level tappers should expect to learn double and triple time steps, 3 & 5 beat riffs, pull-backs, pick-ups, more advanced turns, as well as more intricate rhythms. Class begins at the “tap barre” and progresses to center floor combinations and repetitive exercises, instilling a strong skill set for the intermediate tapper.
Tap Level 4
This class continues the development of tap technique & terminology. Students will further develop skills including musicality and sound clarity with an added focus on increasing speed, and developing style. Advanced level tappers should expect to master double and triple time steps, traveling time steps, 4 & 6 beat riffs, double pull-backs, pick-ups, more advanced turns, as well as more intricate rhythms and improvisation. Class begins at the “tap barre” and progresses to center floor combinations and repetitive exercises, instilling a strong skill set for the advanced tapper.
Street dance styles primarily performed to age appropriate hip-hop music. It includes a wide range of styles primarily breaking, locking, and popping. This class will combine Hard hitting moves with high energy choreography along with cutting edge isolations light breaking and stunts.
Beginning modern will follow classical modern techniques ranging from Evans Method, Horton, Limon, Humphrey-Weidman and others. Dancers will focus on full body integration, developing strength and dynamic quality for performance in a creative, energetic and positive environment.
Students will learn how to combine dance technique with rhythmic gymnastic/ contortion/ balance/ flexibility skills in a formal class setting. Acrobatics is an especially challenging dance style for dancers as it requires them to be trained in both dance and acrobatic skills. Conditioning and flexibility training is a big component of this class participants will learn to be in must be in excellent physical condition as well, because acrobatics (Acro) is a physically demanding activity.
Students will learn bridges, handstands, cartwheels, back-bends, round offs and basic floor skills in addition to conditioning and flexibility
